Philadelphia Eagles (+3) @ New Orleans Saints (-3) Monday, Nov. 5, 2012 8:30 p.m. ET

The main topic of discussion surrounding the Philadelphia Eagles over the past few weeks has been the job status of starting quarterback Michael Vick. With Vick one of the leaders in the turnover department among quarterbacks so far this season, the Eagles’ coaching staff has been debating about making a change at the position by sending Vick the bench in favor of Nick Foles. Recently, head coach Andy Reid told the media that Vick will be his starting quarterback moving forward. There was plenty of debate over the past week about Vick’s status as the starter with talk of the coaching staff in Philadelphia considering making the move before Week 9, but apparently the team is confident in their superstar under center and for good reason considering the matchup. In Week 9, the New Orleans Saints will play host to the Eagles on Monday Night Football at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. New Orleans will head into this matchup on their home field after losing five of their first seven games and supporting the worst defense in the NFL this season. With the Saints’ inability to contain opposing offenses on the ground and through the air, Vick will have his opportunity to save his job and get his Eagles back on track in terms of contending for a playoff spot in the NFC at season’s end. Although the Eagles’ offense will likely be firing on all cylinders this Monday night against the lowly defense of the Saints, the offense in New Orleans is still as potent as ever with Drew Brees lighting up the scoreboards on a weekly basis. So far, Brees has racked up 2,310 yards, 20 touchdowns with throwing eight interceptions. Although Brees is on pace for another record season in terms of touchdowns and potentially in the passing yards category as well, the Saints haven’t been producing wins on a weekly basis and are in danger of missing the playoffs altogether. There’s no question that the offense is still high-powered with the potential of turning this team around, but the defense has been awful to say the least and continues to bring down the team moving forward. At this point in time, the Saints have been dubbed the favorites to come out on top in this matchup with the Eagles in New Orleans. Even though Brees will put up a fight against test the Philadelphia defense, I believe Vick will come out on top.

Prediction: Eagles +3
