Dallas Cowboys (+4) @ Atlanta Falcons (-4) Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012 8:20 p.m. ET

The Dallas Cowboys are coming off arguably the most disappointing loss of the season after failing to come-from-behind in Week 8 to get the best of the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants. After a thrilling comeback and threatening to takedown the arch division rival Giants for the second time this season, Tony Romo and company fell short despite multiple opportunities to take the lead and get the win in the fourth quarter. Dallas couldn’t convert on their final possessions and ultimately fell to New York. Coming into Week 9, things will only get more difficult for the struggling Cowboys as they’re set to face off against the undefeated Atlanta Falcons. As arguably the best team in the league at this point in the season, the Falcons have shown few flaws and continue to dominate the competition on a weekly basis. Along with a flawless 7-0 record, Matt Ryan is making a strong case for NFL MVP and the distinction one of the elite quarterbacks in the league. With the dual threat of Roddy White and Julio Jones downfield along with veteran Tony Gonzalez at tight end and Michael Turner coming out of the backfield, the Falcons are stacked on offense with all sorts of weapons at Ryan’s disposal. Although Atlanta has been considered a talented team on the rise ever since drafting Ryan a few years back, this season is the Falcons coming out party with the rest of the league at their mercy from week to week. As for the Cowboys, this season may be the end of the Tony Romo era in Dallas as another disappointing outcome to the year will almost certainly result in his demotion or the end of his days as a starting quarterback in the NFL. With that being said, there’s a lot of pressure on Romo to turn things around for this football team moving forward. Losses by the Cowboys will likely continue to be blamed on Romo and head coach Jason Garrett who may also be fighting for his job for the rest of the season. Although the odds are stacked against the Cowboys coming into this matchup with this game being played at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta and going up against the only undefeated team left in the league this season, Dallas has a chance to prove the doubters wrong and immediately get back on track with a win over the Falcons. At this point in time, the Falcons are the team favored to win in Week 9 with a -4 point spread. Although the season is on the brink for Dallas, I believe Atlanta should cover with improving to 8-0 on the season.

Prediction: Falcons -4
