Atlanta Falcons (+3) @ Philadelphia Eagles (-3) Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012 1 p.m. ET

Before serving a prison sentence for his involvement in a dog fighting ring, Michael Vick was considered one of the best quarterbacks in football as the leader under center for the Atlanta Falcons. With Vick’s ability to be a multiple threat, Atlanta was making progress in becoming an elite football team and a force to be reckoned with in the NFC Conference. Ironically enough, the Falcons didn’t reach Super Bowl title contending status until Vick left town and the team drafted promising young quarterback Matt Ryan. Now that Ryan has turned into one of the best all-around gunslingers in the league, Atlanta’s potential is through the roof with other up-and-comers like Roddy White and Julio Jones at his disposal downfield. In an interesting twist of fate, Vick has been given a second chance to redeem himself with the Philadelphia Eagles. So far, the road has been rocky for Vick as he’s been brilliant and awful at times. There’s no question that Vick still has the ability to be an elite quarterback in this league, but must stay healthy and eliminate the tendency to commit turnovers both through the air and on the ground. A good test for Vick will come this week against his former team in Philadelphia. After the first six games of the season, the Falcons are the only undefeated team in the league with a flawless 6-0 record heading into Week 8. It remains to be seen how the bye week will affect this squad moving forward as they may have lost a bit of momentum with a week away. There will no doubt be a lot of emotion involved in this game for Vick as he will likely be more motivated than usual taking on the team that drafted him all those years ago. Along with the motivation to beat his former team away from Atlanta, Vick will want to be the first team to take down the Falcons this season. This game will likely be a turning point for the Eagles if they can pullout the win over the Falcons. With this game being played at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, the Eagles will have home field advantage and that might be enough along with Vick’s added motivation to hand Atlanta the first loss of the season. At this point in time, the Falcons will come into this game as the underdog with a +3 point spread. Even though Vick will come out with an agenda and this game being played away from Atlanta, I believe the Falcons will improve to 7-0.

Prediction: Falcons +3
