Washington Redskins (+6) @ New York Giants (-6) Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012 1 p.m. ET

After absolutely embarrassing the San Francisco 49ers on their home field in the Bay Area in Week 6, the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants will look to continue their dominance at MetLife Stadium against rookie phenom Robert Griffin III and the division rival Washington Redskins. As of right now, the Giants are sitting pretty in the NFC East division with a first place standing and a 4-2 record. Even though Eli Manning and company lost to the arch division rivals in the Dallas Cowboys right out of the gate this season, New York has been able to bounce back with a vengeance in the last weeks with four wins in the last five games. The loss to the Philadelphia Eagles was thought to be a sign of the team beginning to fall apart in big games, but the domination of the Cleveland Browns (41-27) and 49ers (26-3) in consecutive weeks immediately after was a thing of beauty. There’s no question that there remains flaws in the Giants’ game on both sides of the football, but this team seems prepared to make another run at a division title and playoff run with the way they’ve played as of late. As for the Redskins, Griffin has completely turned around this struggling storied NFL franchise with some brilliant play both on the ground and through the air. There’s no doubt in anyone’s mind that Griffin is the future face of the franchise in the nation’s capital and quite possibly the perfect hybrid quarterback, but this team still has a few things to work out before contending with the best of the best in the NFC Conference let alone the NFC East. After an impressive win over a surprising good Minnesota Vikings team in Week 6, Griffin and company will face the toughest test of the season going up against the defending Super Bowl champions in Week 7. The battle against the undefeated Atlanta Falcons in Week 5 was a true test that almost ended with an upset, but taking on the arch division rivals this week will help dictate how far this team can go this season. At this point in time, the defending champions have the edge with -6 point spread. Obviously, the odds makers are showing some respect for Griffin’s ability with this spread as New York should be favored by much more or at least a touchdown. Even though the rookie quarterback has the ability to takeover this game on Sunday, I’d be silly to bet against the Giants after the unbelievable performances over the last few weeks.

Prediction: Giants -6
