Houston Texans @ Indianapolis Colts Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012 1 p.m. ET

Back in Week 15, the Houston Texans officially wrapped up the AFC South division title on their home field as a result of getting the best of the resurgence Indianapolis Colts led by rookie quarterback Andrew Luck. Even though the Colts have been impressive this season and have also clinched a playoff berth via the AFC Wild Card, Indianapolis clearly couldn’t compete with the likes of Arian Foster and company and fell in Houston, 29-17. In Week 17, the Colts will host the Texans for the first and final time of the season. Although neither team is competing for a playoff spot on Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, there is game isn’t meaningless by any means. Coming into this regular-season finale, the Colts will be rejuvenated with the return of their head coach Chuck Pagano. The ailing head coach has been battling cancer over the past few months and has finally been medically cleared to pickup where he left off with the Colts on Sunday against the Texans. The emotional factor for the Colts in this game is enough to put them in the running to take down the visiting Texans. With Pagano back on the sidelines and the team reinvigorated, Indianapolis will be a force to be reckoned and possibly too much for Houston to handle. As for the Texans, Matt Schaub and company do have something to play for in terms of playoff positioning. If the Texans beat the Colts on Sunday, they’ll clinch home-field advantage throughout the playoffs and will also have shot at clinching a first-round bye if either the Denver Broncos or New England Patriots lose this weekend. With that being said, the Texans will not be taking any time off or benching their starters for this game with a lot on the line that will impact their position in the AFC playoffs. Although the Texans will be fighting for a first-round bye and home-field advantage moving forward, I believe that the Colts will be the better team on Sunday. Indianapolis will be riding an emotional high with Pagano back calling the shots and that’s enough to convince me that they’ll eight come out on top or at least make this a very competition football game. At this point in time, the Texans are the favorites with a -7 point spread. The Colts will make this game much closer than anticipated while potentially pulling off the upset.

Prediction: Colts +7
