San Diego Chargers (+8) @ Denver Broncos (-8) Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012 4:25 p.m. ET

With the first two games of the 2012 NFL season in the books, the San Diego Chargers seemed to be back on track to reclaiming their dominance in the AFC West division. A win over the division rival Oakland Raiders (22-14) in Week 1 followed by a victory over the Tennessee Titans (38-10) in Week 2. The season was off to a good start with the team playing well. Unfortunately, the Chargers were given a bit of a wakeup call in Week 3 with the Atlanta Falcons crushing Norv Turner’s squad, 27-3. The loss to the Falcons exposed the defense and offense for being less than stellar. San Diego was able to bounce back in Week 4 with a win over the division rival Kansas City Chiefs (37-20), but it would prove to be the last time the Chargers would win until meeting the Chiefs against in Week 9. After the first ten games of the season were played by the Chargers, the team is sitting at a disappointing 4-5 on the year. Fortunately, there may be some light at the end of the tunnel for Philip Rivers and company with San Diego still in second place within the division. Only the Denver Broncos stand in the way of the Chargers reaching the top and a shift in the AFC West standings might occur with the outcome of Week 11’s showdown in the Mile High City. As for the Broncos, Peyton Manning and company have been red-hot as of late. Winners of four straight coming into Week 11, Denver appears to be the real deal with Manning making a legitimate case to be named NFL MVP for an unbelievable fifth time in his career. Needless to say, the questions surrounding Manning’s health and ability to continue playing at an elite level have been put to rest with his impressive performances week in and week out for the Broncos. Although the Broncos are sitting at 6-3 coming into their matchup with the Chargers, San Diego can make things interesting with a win. With the Chargers infamous for making late-season runs, San Diego is never out of the running for a playoff spot or division title with the ability to turn it on at just the right time. Heading into this matchup, Denver is heavily favored to continue the win streak at five games in a row with a -8 point spread. Manning has been on fire as of late and I don’t expect that to stop in Week 11.

Prediction: Broncos -8
