Detroit Lions (-1) @ Minnesota Vikings (+1) Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012 1 p.m. ET

As arguably the most competitive division in the NFL this season, the NFC North is a battleground filled with playoff-contending teams. Although the Chicago Bears lead the way and Green Bay Packers are too far behind, every team within the division is supporting a winning record heading into Week 10. At this point in time, pending a total collapse by the Bears or Packers, the division title is basically out of reach for the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings. With that being said, both of these teams on the rise will be battling it out for an NFC Wildcard spot in order to make it into the playoffs this season. Granted, it’s only the halfway point of the season, but the talented level in the NFC is extremely high with plenty of teams with winning records in the conference likely to be on the outside looking in on the playoffs. Heading into Week 10, both coaching staffs for the Lions and Vikings will keep their playoff hopes in mind as they will duke it out in a head-to-head showdown at Mall of America Field in Minnesota. There’s no doubt that the Vikings have been one of the surprise teams in the league this season with four wins in the first five games, but have struggled heading into this matchup with the Lions after dropping three of the last four. As if the recent struggles weren’t bad enough heading into a showdown with a divisional opponent, two of the Vikings’ best players on offense will come into this game banged up. At this point in time it remains uncertain if wide receiver Percy Harvin will be good to go for Week 10 as he’s dealing with an ankle injury. Superstar running back Adrian Peterson is also ailing heading into this weekend’s matchup with an illness. Neither player has been ruled out just yet, but it’s safe to say that Harvin will be looking on from the sidelines as it’s doubtful he’ll be ready to go for Sunday. As for the Lions, Detroit is also dealing with a major injury issue with superstar wideout Calvin Johnson still ailing from nerve damage sustained from the last meeting between these two teams. The injury is bad enough that Johnson has complained by not being able to grip the football. As of right now, the Lions have the slight advantage with a -1 point spread. This spread is right on the money in my opinion as Detroit should get the win on the road.

Prediction: Lions -1
