Atlanta Falcons (-1) @ New Orleans Saints (+1) Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012 1 p.m. ET

The first eight weeks of the NFL season have been nothing short of amazing for the up-and-coming Atlanta Falcons. There’s no questioning the fact that everyone knew the Falcons were a talented team on the verge of a breakout season coming into the 2012 campaign, but no one could’ve predicted the outcome of the first game games of the year. With NFL MVP candidate Matt Ryan leading the way under center, the Falcons have been able to win all eight games played in the first half of the season. Although Atlanta might not be putting up the eye-popping numbers like the New England Patriots did in their flawless regular season a few years back, Ryan and company are doing enough on both sides of the football to get the job done every single week regardless of the competition. After tallying the first eight wins, the Falcons must do it all over again with eight more games to go before the end of the regular season and the start of the NFL playoffs. At this point in time, there’s little doubt around the league that the Falcons are the best team in the NFL and ready to win the NFC South division for a second consecutive season. Armed with an arsenal of weapons offensively from Roddy White to Julio Jones to Michael Turner and tight end Tony Gonzalez, the Falcons are stacked with talent with all sorts of options for Ryan under center. Although the perfect 16-0 season is possible with the remaining schedule for Atlanta, there are a few games that will pose a challenge starting with Week 10’s matchup with the arch division rival New Orleans Saints. There’s no question that the Saints aren’t exactly the team they once were with Super Bowl title aspirations after the bounty scandal with the defense no longer what it used to be in New Orleans, but this team has started to get back on track as of late with Drew Brees leading the charge as usual. Coming into Week 10’s NFC South showdown with the undefeated Falcons, the Saints have won two in the row and may be on the verge of turning things around if they can get the best of Atlanta at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Sunday. As of right now, the Falcons have the edge with a -1 point spread in their favor heading into New Orleans. Atlanta will be tested, but should get a ninth win on the season.

Prediction: Falcons -1
